About Harstad Hockey

Experience That Matters. Guidance That Lasts.
I grew up playing hockey in Minnesota and Wisconsin, chasing the same dream as so many young players-to see how far the game could take me. At 17, I entered the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers and was later drafted by the Winnipeg Jets in the NHL. Before turning pro, I played Division I hockey at Colorado College, earning an economics degree along the way. After college, I began my professional career in the Jets organization and went on to play 230+ professional games across the AHL, ECHL, and Europe.

Why Harstad Hockey
When my playing career ended, one thing stood out:
There were so many things I wish I had known earlier.
Harstad Hockey exists to pass along the lessons, habits, and training methods I gained over 28+ years in the game-so players can develop faster, smarter, and with confidence.

Why Guidance Matters
Today’s hockey world is crowded with information.
What’s missing is clarity.
Players don’t need more drills.
They need to know what actually matters.
I’ve experienced both success and failure at high levels of the game-and I’ve learned that failure is part of growth. But avoidable mistakes and bad habits don’t have to be.
With the right guidance, the path becomes clearer.

The Coach I Wish I Had
My NHL dream came up just short.
Because of that, I’ve spent years studying why-and turning those lessons into better development for the next generation.
Harstad Hockey is built on one simple goal:
to be the mentor I wish I had growing up.
Asking for help isn’t weakness.
In hockey, it’s often the difference.

Our Mission
